 At least 32 states currently mandate that residents be able to access an online database of government expenditures with “checkbook-level” detail. Most of these Web sites are also searchable, making it easier for residents to obtain information about government spending.

Washington State Senate Approves BPA Ban 38-9

The Washington State Senate this morning concurred with the House on the Safe Baby Bottle Act (SSB 6248), which would ban the toxic chemical bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles, sippy cups, and other children’s products. The bill also bans BPA in sports bottles, making Washington the second state in the nation to deal with toxic sports bottles.

Washington State Legislature Passes Ban On Toxic BPA In Baby Bottles and Kids’ Dishware

he Washington State House today overwhelmingly passed the Safe Baby Bottle Act (SSB 6248), a bill to eliminate the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles, sippy cups, and other children’s dishware, as well as from sports bottles. The vote was 96-1. The Senate is likely to concur and Governor Gregoire is expected to sign the bill.
